RULES OF THE ROAD
Chatham Transit Network appreciates your business. We must, however, have rules for our passengers in order to make our transportation safe and efficient.
For the In-County Service
- Please be ready 1 hour before your scheduled pick-up time.
- The vehicle cannot backtrack and does not make multiple stops for passengers.
- The vehicle will wait 3 minutes at the stop for you to board.
- All communication for pick-up and drop-off must be made with Chatham Transit’s dispatcher. Do not make reservations through the driver. Please contact our dispatcher at (919) 542-5136.
- If you call for a ride and then are not available when the driver arrives, it will be recorded as a no-show. Riders are allowed 2 no-shows in 6 months. Chatham Transit will send a warning letter after the first no-show. After the second no-show, you will not be allowed to be transported for 90 days. Transportation will resume after the 90 day period. However, if you do not show for a scheduled pick-up 2 additional times in the next 6 months, you will lose your ridership privilege permanently.
For the PX and 64 Routes
- A reservation is not required for these routes. But if you wish to ensure a seat on the vehicle, please call by noon the preceding day.
- Please be at your stop 5 minutes before the scheduled time.
For all Routes and Services
- Pay your fare upon boarding.
- Fares are payable with cash or fare cards only. The driver will not make change.
- Disabled passengers requiring an attendant pay one fare.
- Children aged 8 and younger, or weighing less than 80 pounds, must be secured in a car seat by a guardian. Chatham Transit does not provide car seats and will not assist in securing a child in a car seat.
- Do not ride with more than you can hold in your lap, with the exception of walkers, baby strollers and other assistive devices.
- Drivers will not help to carry packages.
- Eating, drinking, smoking, pets, loud music and profanity are prohibited on the vehicle.
- Passengers with service animals are welcome.
