Chatham Transit Network [CTN] is the Community Transportation Program (Section 5311) for Chatham County, North Carolina. Chatham Transit Network received this authorization in 1996. Chatham Transit Network receives funding from both the Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) and the North Carolina Department of Transportation- Public Transportation Division. The Network operates as a not for profit corporation offering transportation services to other human service agencies and the general public. Human service transportation is paid for by the human service agency offering the transportation to its consumers. For more information, see the section on Human Services Transportation. General Public transportation is through a grant from the NC Department of Transportation - Public Transportation Division and the passenger must pay a fare. Our current fare for in town transportation is $1.00 each way, in-county transportation is $2.00 each way and out of county transportation of $3.00 each way. For more information, see the section on general public transportation. Chatham Transit Network does NOT have funds to operate vehicles at no cost. Funding must be received from some source in order for Chatham Transit Network to provide passengers with transportation. We work with several different funding sources and try to assist our passengers in understanding their funding options. We hope that this website serves as a useful guide to understanding the Network and transportation options available to citizens of Chatham County. We strive to provide Chatham County with a safe and reliable transit network and welcome your comments and suggestions.
